Professor Tracy Humphrey from UQ's School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work spoke to 7News about nursing and it's continued growth as the state's most popular course.
46,000 school leavers had an offer of tertiary education and of the top five courses, three were in nursing.
"I think that the COVID pandemic has actually done our profession a whole lot of good," Professor Humphreys said.
"I think that it's raised the profile of the contribution that nurses and midwives make."
