Honorary Fellow Dr Kris Tulloch from UQ’s School of Psychology featured on Nine News about a study exploring how gardening can benefit the people with dementia and nurture their sense of purpose.
The joint study between The University of Queensland and The University of the Sunshine Coast sees participants directly contribute by planting, watering and weeding in small groups under the supervision of experts twice a week for up to seven weeks.
“There’s a lot of research from overseas and especially in Europe that shows gardening is really good activity for people living with dementia ,” Dr Kris Tulloch said.
“What we are aiming to do here is improve people’s wellbeing and their sense of connection to community.”
