This study aims to explore the effect that longstanding jaw problems have on jaw function.

This will help us better understand how jaw problems affect different people and their day-to-day life, and improve diagnosis and management of these conditions. For this, we also need people without jaw problems to compare data to.

The study will involve one face-to-face session at The University of Queensland. Testing will take approximately 60-90 minutes, and will include a number of physical tests to assess your jaw movement, strength and control.

In addition, you will be asked to complete a short online questionnaire about your jaw and general health, which will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Eligibility

We are looking for volunteers aged 18 years and older, who have either:

  • A healthy jaw: no signs of jaw clicking, locking or pain in the past 5 years.
  • Persistent jaw pain: lasting longer than 3 months, without clicking or locking.
