UQ researchers are looking to understand what causes you to use energy when you move.

While hopping, we will be taking a range of non-invasive, non-harmful measures including motion capture, force plate, ultrasound, electromyography, and indirect calorimetry data. This will all allow us to generally understand, from the level of the whole body to individual muscle fibres, what causes you to use energy when you move. The data collection will take place over 4 x ~ 2.5 hr sessions, spaced flexibly, each of which will involve 5 x 4 min trials (each trial separated by plenty of rest) of continuous hopping. At worst, you may experience some localised muscle soreness and/or delayed onset muscle soreness, but we have measures in place to minimise these feelings.
