The study is looking at PEER support and if the help of a mentor can increase your adherence to exercise post cancer.

We will also look at the relationship of your fitness and body composition.

You can expect four testing sessions throughout the 12 months, one month of supervised HIIT training on the bike and then continuing with the HIIT training either with or without a peer supporter at various gym sites around Brisbane.

By participating in this study, participants will receive:

  • Individualised exercise training from an Accredited Exercise Physiologist
  • An assessment of current fitness levels
  • An assessment of body composition and bone density analyses
  • Heart health assessment
  • You will receive 4 weeks (12 sessions) of free personal training following on 11 months access to the bikes at a YMCA site with no fees.

Eligibility:

  • Aged 18 years and over;
  • At least one-month post-treatment for cancer and not anticipating undergoing treatment during the study period;
  • Free of any musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, metabolic or cardiovascular conditions that may prevent safe completion of the exercise demands of the study.
