UQ Healthy Living is an interprofessional clinic promoting healthy ageing and wellbeing in older adults.

UQ Healthy Living provides assessments and interventions in exercise, diet and lifestyle tailored to meet the particular needs of older people. Drawing upon the latest research from around the world, it is a focal point for researchers across UQ working to address the challenge of an ageing population. Students, under the supervision of leading practitioners in dietetics, exercise and sports science, clinical exercise physiology, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy and psychology, offer a range of individual and small group activities designed to promote healthy outcomes.

Find UQ Healthy Living at Centra, Level 3, 37 Archer Street, Toowong. UQ Healthy Living is located in the heart of Toowong, just 6km from the Brisbane CBD and 3km from The University of Queensland. It is easily accessible by bus, CityCat and train, with parking in the surrounding streets.

Who can attend UQ Healthy Living?

UQ Healthy Living

UQ Healthy Living is a community-based clinic promoting healthy ageing and wellbeing in people over the age of 50.

To assist in the training needs of our students, we cater to clients from the following categories:

  • Deconditioned – weakness / reduced muscle bulk / reduced endurance
  • History of falls
  • Reduced balance
  • Frailty
  • Shortness of breath while resting and with exertion
  • Reduced mobility, including difficulty getting out of a chair or bed
  • Current or prior cancer, including imminent or current chemotherapy patients
  • Cardiopulmonary conditions, such as:
    • Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease (COAD)
    • Emphysema
    • Prior heart attack
    • Heart Failure

Referral pathways will be received from GPs, primary care health professionals, and hospital health services, in addition to self referrals.
