UQ Healthy Living

An interprofessional clinic promoting healthy ageing and wellbeing in older adults. UQ Healthy Living provides assessments and interventions in exercise, diet and lifestyle tailored to meet the particular needs of older people.Drawing upon the latest research from around the world, it is a focal point for researchers across UQ working to address the challenge of an ageing population. Students, under the supervision of leading practitioners in dietetics, exercise and sports science, clinical exercise physiology, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy and psychology, offer a range of individual and small group activities designed to promote healthy outcomes.

A unique learning environment

The University of Queensland has some of the highest calibre researchers, teachers and scholars in Australia interested in clinical and applied ageing research across a wide range of disciplines.

UQ Healthy Living enables the translation of the latest research and emerging advice on cognitive, physical, mental and social wellbeing into practice, addressing contemporary, real-world health concerns.

UQ Healthy Living clients will have access to this wealth of knowledge and expertise, along with state-of-the-art strength and aerobic equipment.

Our student practitioners, in consultation with leading researchers in the field of healthy ageing, will design modularised programs to meet the individual physical, cognitive, emotional and social needs of clients.

Referral pathways will be received from GPs, primary care health professionals,
and hospital health services, in addition to self referrals.

UQ Healthy Living is located in the heart of Toowong, just 6km from the Brisbane CBD and 3km from The University of Queensland. It is easily accessible by bus, CityCat and train, with parking in the surrounding streets.


How to access services at UQ Healthy Living

To assist us in best helping direct you to the services you need, could you please answer the following questions below.

1. Are you able to get in/out of a chair/wheelchair/toilet by yourself?      Yes  /  No

2. Are you able to walk by yourself?      Yes  /  No

3. If filling out this questionnaire on behalf of someone else, is the prospective attendee able to consistently follow instructions?      Yes  /  No

If you answer "NO" to any of these questions, please contact UQ Healthy Living on 3443 2586 and ask to speak to either the Clinical Director or one of the Clinical Educators. Speaking to you or your carer in person will help us to understand your specific circumstances and to therefore direct services appropriately.

If you answered "YES" to all of the above questions, please contact our friendly reception staff who will assist you in answering your questions and help to book you in for your initial assessment.
