Queensland researchers have developed a new way to measure the amount of microplastics in seafood, and say the results of their initial tests have been surprising.
Currently, microplastic measurements are taken using a visual confirmation of what type of plastic is present, followed by chemical analysis.
Lead author and PhD candidate Francisca Ribeiro discussed how the team developed a way to simply test for what types of plastic are present in seafood and in what quantities with the Brisbane Times.
