Associate Professor Alina Morawska from UQ’s School of Psychology featured in an article on The Latch providing tips for parents on how to appropriately have ‘the talk’ with their children.
She said parents feel that they lack the knowledge and confidence to engage in these kinds of conversations on a regular basis.
“One of the most common reasons that parents (and teachers) are not comfortable in talking about sex is because they lack the knowledge, skills and confidence to do so effectively,” Associate Professor Morawska said.
“Caregivers need to gain knowledge about what is developmentally appropriate.”
