Australia urged to follow NZ’s lead in the push for a ‘smoke-free generation’

Dr Gary Chan from UQ’s National Centre for Youth Substance Use Research spoke with 4BC about New Zealand’s push to ban future generations from buying cigarettes.

Dr Chan said there’s an argument for introducing the same policies here, with around 20,000 Australians dying from smoking-related illnesses each year.

“I definitely support what they have been doing in New Zealand because a lot of studies have shown that would be a very good set of policies that can save lives.”
