Telehealth program helps cancer survivors

3 November 2022

Dr Elise Gane from UQ’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences featured in a 10 News First story about a telehealth exercise program helping people manage the side effects of cancer.

The research is being delivered in collaborations with researchers from the Princess Alexandra Hospital and is funded by the PA Research Foundation.

Dr Gane said people could experience fatigue, reduced muscle mass, aerobic fitness and reduced bone mineral density.

“Exercise is an evidence-based therapy that can address all of those side effects.

“They can access a really experienced exercise professional and have exercises prescribed for them.”
