The weird and the wonderful: UQ clubs and societies

Gone are the days of cliques and stereotypes (that is so last year!). Uni is all about getting to know people from all walks of life with different interests, backgrounds and experiences to your own. One way to do this is to take advantage of the chance to learn new skills and hang out with like-minded people, through UQ’s clubs and societies.

With over 190+ clubs and societies affiliated with the UQ Union there really is something for everyone! To view the full list of what’s available, click here. We have gone through and picked out some of the most innovative to get you excited:

  • Beer and Rum Society - *Enjoy responsibly
  • Comedy and Improv Club – This is sure to be a good laugh
  • Dance – Get your groove on with all things salsa, samba, blues and tango
  • German Club – Guten tag! Members of the German Club enjoy film nights, language discussion groups, trivia nights, and trips to the German Club and Bavarian Bier Cafe. Prost!
  • Harry Potter Alliance – Listen up all you wizards and witches, this is where the magic happens
  • Pokémon Fan Club - Once you catch ‘em all you can challenge the Elite 4 and become the St Lucia Pokémon Champion

  • U-Cue Pool Club – Chalk up and sink some balls in poolcrawls. You can only dream of one day being as good as this chicken.

From computing to chess, yoga to Chinese painting, there’s certainly something for everyone at UQ. Don’t be shy – sign up, meet new friends and enjoy all that UQ has to offer!
