First Aid and CPR training
What is First Aid and CPR?
First Aid: 1 day, approximately $130, valid for 3 years
CPR: 5 hours, approximately $80, valid for 12 months
Many placement providers require students to have current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificates. First Aid certificates are valid for 3 years and CPR certificates need to be renewed every 12 months.
First aid and CPR training must include the following topics:
- Apply the principles of first aid
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults and infants
- Asthma & Anaphylaxis management
- Treatment of infection, shock, fractures, bleeding and burns
- Emergencies due to lack of oxygen, excess heat or cold, heart attack, stroke, asthma, diabetes and epilepsy
- Management of common medical emergencies
- Treatment of poisoning including venomous bites and stings
Accredited course codes which include these topics are HLTAID003 / HLTAID011 and HLTAID001 / HLTAID009. You should look for these course codes when booking into a course.
