Dr Karan Gulati from UQ’s School of Dentistry will showcase a simple and cost-effective solution to challenges associated with the success of dental implants, specially in patients with ongoing conditions: osteoporosis, diabetes and poor oral hygiene. Nano-engineered dental implants will enhance implant-tissue integration and release drugs to reduce bacterial infection. The research aims to minimize dental implant failure, with less frequent dentist visits (overall reduced costs) and quicker healing times.
