Interprofessional Collaboration within Health at UQ
Associate Professor Neil Cottrell, Director of Interprofessional Education in the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences (HaBS), will discuss the new interprofessional collaborative practice curriculum that is being developed and implemented across the HaBS Faculty.
The health care system is complex and continually changing, which demands a workforce that can be flexible, client-centred, and able to successfully operate within an interprofessional, collaborative team-based environment. In this webinar, A/Prof Cottrell will discuss the benefits of interprofessional collaborative practice and the new curriculum being developed to enable students to learn with, from and about each other, to be effective interprofessional collaborative practitioners when they enter the workforce.
About Associate Professor Neil Cottrell: Neil was appointed as the new Director of Interprofessional Education in the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences at The University of Queensland (UQ) in January 2019. In this role he is responsible for strategic oversight of the Faculty’s portfolio of interprofessional education activities. Prior to joining UQ, Neil was a clinical pharmacy practitioner and leader at teaching hospitals in the United Kingdom and in Brisbane when he moved to Australia in 1998. Neil joined the School of Pharmacy at UQ in 2001. In 2010, Neil was seconded to UQ Greenslopes Clinical School (2010-2012) where he led an interprofessional group from medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and pharmacy to develop and successfully implement an Interprofessional Curriculum for students from the same disciplines.
