UQ researchers trial new technology to help seniors stay on their feet

7 Dec 2020

UQ School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences PhD student Jacinta Foster features on Nine News about the study aimed to improve balance for seniors with a hearing loss.

About 40 per cent of injury-related deaths in Australia are from falls, but Jacinta Foster hopes the device can dramatically reduce that figure.

"If it proves successful then we'll be actually looking more at Therapeutic Goods Administration approval," she said.

To prevent falls at home remove risks like rugs, turn on a light when you're walking at night, and install support rails in bathrooms and bathtubs.
