NSW Health requirements
What is required if I have a placement at a NSW Health facility?
Before a student can commence a placement in a NSW Health facility, students must meet the NSW Health mandatory requirements.
Mandatory requirements include:
- Australian National Police Check
- NSW Health Code of Conduct
- Immunisations: Undertaking/Declaration Form, Tuberculosis Assessment Tool, NSW Health Vaccination Record Card (Hep B Serology required)
- Influenza Vaccination is mandatory for placements occuring between 1 June and 30 September
Mandatory My Health Learning modules
Access to My Health Learning is granted 13 days before the placement starts. All students must complete:
- Between the Flags - Tier 1 (Awareness Charts and Escalation)
- Cyber Security Fundamentals (2-year validity)
- Cyber Security Fundamentals Quiz (New - October 2024)
- Donning and fit checking of P2 or N95 respirators in NSW Healthcare settings
- Hand hygiene for clinical healthcare workers (updated version - November 2024)
- Infection Prevention and Control Practices
- Personal Protective Equipment for Combined Transmission-Based Precautions
- Privacy - It's Yours to Keep
- Security Awareness - All Staff
- Work Health and Safety and Hazardous Manual Tasks
eMR training module in My Health Learning is also required for
- Nursing and Midwifery
- Medicine
- Allied Health
Students should download and save copies of their certificates once they have completed the modules in My Health Learning.
Additional requirements may include:
- N95 fit testing
- COVID-19 Vaccination - strong recommended only
- Overseas Student Statutory Declaration (for students who have resided in any other country for <6 Months)
- Blood Borne Virus Declaration (Medicine, Midwifery, Dentistry and Oral Health and Paramedicine students only)
- Aged Care Statutory Declaration
Once you have completed the required documents you must email immunisation/health compliance documents to the OSV assessor and all other documents to Student Compliance. You can contact the ClinConnect Coordinator for your region and ask for the current contact email addresses for the OSV assessor and Student Compliance. In any email subject lines, please include your Education Provider (UQ), student name, student number, discipline and start date of placement. For students in Northern NSW Local Health District only the contacts are: NNSWLHD-OSVAssessor@health.nsw.gov.au and NNSWLHD-StudentCompliance@health.nsw.gov.au
