Running frames are helping kids with cerebral palsy experience the thrill of running

Professor Stewart Trost and Dr Emma Beckman from UQ's School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences are part of the Run4Health team delivering the landmark research project featured by ABC 7:30 Report.

Many children with cerebral palsy find it difficult, if not impossible, to experience the thrill of running. In recent years, that experience has been made possible in Australia with the help of imported running frames.

It's not only a lot of fun, but the frames could also have significant health benefits, which are being assessed in a new trial.

The study is the first of its kind internationally to host a trial of frame running training and will monitor the improvements in cardiovascular fitness for young children living with cerebral palsy as they train and grow.
