Research Week (16-20 September 2019) is a celebration of the incredible research and researchers within The University of Queensland.

UQ is one of Australia’s top research-intensive universities. The Excellence in Research for Australia 2018 assessment rated UQ above and well above world standard in more specialised fields of research than any other Australian university, across 93 disciplines.

Dr Ballard is a DECRA Research Fellow at the UQ School of Psychology. His main areas of interest are motivation, decision making, and performance. read more


Gary ChanGary Chan
Dr Chan is a UQ Research Fellow at the Centre for Youth Substance Abuse Research whose principal research interest lies in the field of substance misuse prevention and the application of cutting-edge statistical methods. read more


Kathy EllemKathy Ellem
Dr Ellem is a Senior Lecturer at the UQ School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work. Her work focuses on how both teaching and research can influence positive change in social work practice and in the lives of vulnerable people. read more


James FalconerJames Falconer
Dr Falconer is a researcher at the UQ School of Pharmacy. His lab works with supercritical fluids which are unique, tunable solvents. read more


Scott FarrellScott Farrell
Dr Farrell is a Research Fellow at the RECOVER Injury Research Centre. His work focuses on using basic science and clinical methods to explore the mechanisms underpinning chronic neck pain, particularly after whiplash injuries. read more


Hannah FilmerHannah Filmer
Dr Filmer is an ARC DECRA at the UQ School of Psychology whose research covers a range of themes, including frontal lobe function, brain training, ageing, consciousness, and attention. read more


Jonas FookenJonas Fooken
Dr Fooken is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for the Business and Economics of Health, specialising in topics of behavioural economics. read more


Sjaan GomersallSjaan Gomersall
Dr Gomersall is a Senior Lecturer in physiotherapy at the UQ School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Her research interests include time use and how this influences health. read more


Karan GulatiKaran Gulati
​Dr Gulati is an NHMRC Early Career Fellow at the UQ School of Dentistry working in Professor Sašo Ivanovski’s Tissue Engineering & Additive Manufacturing group (iTEAM). read more


Danielle KamatoDanielle Kamato
Dr Kamato is an NHMRC Early Career Fellow at the UQ School of Pharmacy working to discover the link between periodontal disease and the onset of cardiovascular disease. read more


Sarit KaserzonSarit Kaserzon
Dr Kaserzon is a Research Fellow at the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences. Her research focuses on the development of sampling technologies for monitoring emerging pollutants in water. read more


Shelley KeatingShelley Keating
Dr Keating is an NHMRC Early Career Fellow at the UQ School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences. Her research examines the role of exercise in the management of obesity and related cardiometabolic conditions. read more


James KirbyJames Kirby
Dr Kirby is a Lecturer at the UQ ​School of Psychology. He is working on a number of research projects related to compassion. read more

Dr Kumeria is an NHMRC Early Career Fellow at the UQ School of Pharmacy. His research is focused on smart porous nanomaterials, which offer unique structural, optical, and chemical properties. read more


Jake O'BrienJake O’Brien
Dr O’Brien is a Research Fellow at the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences. His main research area is the analysis of wastewater for assessing population exposure to chemicals. read more


Maree PetersenMaree Petersen
Dr Petersen is a Senior Lecturer at the UQ School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work. She is a lead investigator on a number of research projects concerned with housing and older people. read more


David SewellDavid Sewell
​Dr Sewell's research at the UQ School of Psychology covers some of the basic properties of attention, learning, memory, and decision-making, and the development and testing of formal mathematical models of human cognition. read more


Atiyeh VaezipourAtiyeh Vaezipour
Dr Vaezipour is part of a research team at the RECOVER Injury Research Centre working on the development and evaluation of innovative telerehabilitation technology solutions to improve the delivery and availability of evidence-based health services. read more

Dr Venables is a Lecturer in social work at the UQ School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work. Her research explores the policy-practice interface in child, youth and family practice. read more

Dr Wallace is a Lecturer in speech pathology at the UQ School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences who conducts research in the field of aphasia rehabilitation. read more

Dr Xu is an NHMRC Senior Research Officer at the UQ School of Dentistry who has made significant scientific contributions to the fields of nanotechnology, biomaterials, tissue regeneration and osteoporosis treatment. read more
