The purpose of this study is to better understand the current level of awareness surrounding the role of physiotherapy in managing jaw problems in Australia.

To achieve this, this study aims to explore the beliefs, attitudes and perceptions of those living with jaw problems (temporomandibular disorders or “TMDs”) and those providing care (first-contact healthcare practitioners, such as Dentists and General Practitioners). The study is being organised and funded through the Australian Physiotherapy Association and The University of Queensland.

This study will involve a one-on-one interview, conducted online. In the interview, you will be asked questions about your personal experience with TMD management, your understanding of management practices and who might be involved in TMD care, and any barriers or facilitators towards involvement of specific healthcare professions in TMD management. The interview will take approximately 30-40 minutes, and will be audio recorded to allow the research team to transcribe and analyse results.
