UQ researchers are exploring perspectives on returning to play sport after an ankle sprain.

We are conducting a study to understand athlete, coach and health professional perspectives on returning to sport and the use of injury prevention strategies after an athlete has an ankle sprain. Information collected will help inform future treatment and communication about returning to sport after an ankle sprain injury.

Eligible individuals will participate in an interview with one of the researchers that will take about 20 minutes. The interview will be done online or on the phone. The researcher will ask questions about things you considered when going back to sport after an ankle sprain and your thoughts on different injury prevention strategies.

Eligibility

We are looking for the following groups of individuals to participate in this study:

  • Adult athletes who regularly participate in a court or field sport and have sustained a previous ankle sprain within the last 6 months
  • Adolescent athletes who play a field or court sport and have previously sprained their ankle within the last 6 months and their parent/guardian
  • Coaches of field or court sport teams
  • Health professionals who regularly treat athletes who play field or court sports

Participant benefits

Participants will receive a $10 gift card for participating in the study.
