The Supporting Transitions into ECEC Programs Study (First STEPS)
First STEPS is an exciting new study exploring the experiences of children, families, and service providers as children transition into their first day-care service.
We combine sleep, behavioural, health, and survey measures across this transition to try to get the fullest picture of what this experience is like for everyone involved, and this information is going to help us to advise the government on ways to better assist families and services in supporting this important life transition.
We are looking for families with children between 1 and 3-years-old who are planning on enrolling their child into day-care for the first time in 2024-2025 to participate!
Eligibility
We are looking for families with children between 1 and 3-years-old. To be eligible to participate, the child must not yet have begun attending a day-care service, but the family is planning on enrolling their child into the service at some point during the next 12 months (2024-2025).
Other exclusion criteria include:
- The child cannot have been born very pre-term (prior to 32 weeks of gestation)
- The child cannot have a significant medical or developmental condition (we can clarify what conditions are considered significant or relevant on a case by case basis).
Participant benefits
A $50 gift voucher.
