The objective of this study is to evaluate the relationship between the pelvic floor and the hip muscles.

The pelvic floor muscles are located at the base of the pelvis. They are responsible for the support of pelvic organs and contribute to continence mechanisms. Deep hip muscles may influence pelvic floor muscles and may contribute to the mechanism of pain or dysfunction in the area.

Your participation will help us to better understand the relationship between these muscles and contribute to improved clinical practice.

Eligible participants will be asked to complete a questionnaire and to attend one or two sessions (3-4 hours per session). This will involve the recording of muscle activity from the pelvic floor and hip muscles in laying down, standing and during movements such as squatting. Assessment sessions will take place at St Lucia UQ campus.

Eligibility

Females aged 18-45 years who have not given birth or have not yet reached menopause.

Participant benefits

Participants will receive compensation of $50 per assessment session.
